Ladies' Lounge is a women-only drop-in which aims to to provide a safe, confidential, relaxed environment for vulnerable women in the Torbay area who are homeless, sex street workers, victims of domestic violence, suffering from mental health problems/addictions and who are lonely and isolated. Our goal is to encourage these women to look forward to a better future being helped to cooperate and keep appointments with statutory agencies, healthcare, dentists, the benefits system etc., and once stabilised to consider voluntary work leading on to training and full time employment giving them a more independent lifestyle. We rent the top floor of the Salvation Army building in Market Street, Torquay. Our opening hours are Mondays 11.30-2.00 and Wednesdays 1.30-4.00. Our service is completely free to our ladies who enjoy homemade cake coffee/tea/squash both days and a simple hot meal on the Monday. The craft table is a great way to encourage and relax our ladies, tho' some prefer to just chill and chat. We would welcome volunteers who are happy to assist with the craft activities and those who would help in the kitchen. The volunteer role in Ladies' Lounge is very rewarding.
